Laughter Therapy
“Laughter is the best medicine.” Who doesn’t know this? As cliché as it may seem this is undeniably true. It’s far better to hear the sound of laughter than the sound of crying or of anger, right? You may not know it but the act of laughing strengthens our immune system. It also boosts energy. Another thing, it goes a long way towards eliminating pain, burdens and stress. The great thing is that laughter is a natural and freely available ‘medication’.
By simply opening to the essence of playfulness you get in touch with the spirit of cheerfulness and a playful heart. So, learn to be as spontaneous and playful as a child.
1. Smile
Laughter begins with a smile. It doesn’t need to have funny event just to laugh. A simple sight of a smiling person or a laughing person could somehow make you laugh as they are both contagious.
2. Count your blessings.
Focus on positive things and learn to appreciate them. This brings about a lighter view of the bad things in life which otherwise can get in the way of achieving contentment and happiness.
3. Spend time with fun people.
It is best to laugh when you are simply around people who are happy and light-hearted. There are less chances of loneliness and pessimism even in hard times.
4. Bring humor into conversations.
Try as much as possible to add humor to your daily conversations. No matter how heavy or serious the topic may be, a touch of humor makes the whole situation a lot easier to deal with when humor is added into it
Laughing exudes so much power that it does not just enhance relationships but supports physical and emotional health, too. Let me enumerate some of the benefits of laughter.
- 1. Laughter brings in happy thoughts and hormones for the body.A good laugh can actually relax your muscles up to 45 minutes. It alleviates any form of physical fatigue and stress.
- 2. Laughter boosts the immune system. The benefits of laughter help to relieve and lessen stress and help the immune cells to increase their levels together with infection-fighting antibodies, which eventually keep you strong against any type of illness
- 3. Laughter triggers the release of endorphins. Endorphins are essential to our body for they promote a sense of well-being that temporarily alleviates pain, making it a natural feel-good chemical for our body.
